Hello, I'm Monica.
Behind Growth Through Healing.
Welcome to Growth Through Healing.
Hello, I am Monica Gallegos, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, an EMDR certified therapist and a currently active student in the Somatic Experiencing® Professional Training. Growth Through Healing was created with the mission to support individuals in healing from challenging past and present life experiences and concerns about the future. As individuals, we all experience hardships and are in an ongoing process of development and growth where we need support.
As a trauma therapist, I believe that our bodies and minds are deeply connected. Our brains have a natural way to recover from traumatic memories and events in our lives. Trauma however, impacts the communication between mind and body leading to those experiences impacting our present and future. As an EMDR certified therapist and a SE Practitioner in Training, I utilize both EMDR and Somatic techniques to support you in healing. My goal is to provide you a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental setting. I believe that only when we feel safe, are we able to delve into our experiences, our challenges, and allow for the space to heal and grow.
My Approach.
Your Journey to Healing.
Eye Movement Desensitization
& Reprocessing
helps patients recover from trauma including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing
EMDR is a therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. EMDR therapy helps the brain process these memories and allows normal healing to resume.
Somatic Experiencing
The SE approach allows for the gentle guiding of clients to increase their ability to tolerate difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions. This is done by focusing on the client’s experience of body sensations in connection to emotions. SE supports completion of self-protective body responses, allowing those body states to resolve in a compassionate and safe environment. The founder of Somatic Experiencing, Dr. Peter Levine demonstrates the effects of trauma on the nervous system, and his philosophy of treating trauma, which involves slowly releasing energy trapped in the body.
Somatic Experiencing
The primary goal of SE is to modify the trauma-related stress response.
How It Works
Seeking counseling may often bring up uncertainty and uneasiness, this is normal. Counseling does elicit vulnerability in the process; however, we will go at your pace. As you embark in this journey you will come to see this feeling for what it is- strength.

How often do we meet for therapy? Most clients meet once a week, while others may meet twice a month. This depends on a person-to-person basis and may change throughout our work together.

What can I expect during my session? In therapy, you will get the chance to talk through the aspects of life that have led you to therapy and often find that some things are more connected than you may have initially thought.
